BENEFITS OF HEMP FIBERS

The scientifically measured benefits of industrial hemp are numerous

ANTIMICROBIAL

Hemp is naturally antimicrobial and antibacterial which prevents mold, mildew and other microbes from growing in the material without chemical treatment. Because of this, it can prevent odors from bacteria growth from occurring. Read Article

NATURALLY THERMOREGULATING

Hemp’s ability to retain moisture, along with its breathability, makes it useful in bedding and clothing, as it will naturally wick moisture away from the skin. Read More

NATURALLY FR

Hemp fibers are naturally thermally-resistant and have been used in a number of applications with high FR requirements. Read Article

CARBON ABSORBTION

Hemp absorbs more than 2x more carbon than trees, requires less water, grows quickly, cleans the air, absorbs toxins, and even regenerates the soil in a process called "bioremediation".

NATURALLY PEST RESISTANT

Hemp Fiber naturally repels rodents, mites, and termites which makes it cheaper and easier to grow and ideal for keeping bedding components a cleaner environment.

BIODEGRADABLE

Where petroleum-based plastics may take up to 1,000 years to biodegrade, hemp takes only weeks when composted. Read Article

DURABLE

Despite hemp's biodegradability, it is the strongest natural fiber on the planet. It's used for making building materials like concrete & rebar due to it's durable mechanical properties.

NATURAL FIBERS

PROCESSED DOWN TO A FINE "DUST", THIS NATURAL HEMP FIBER NOT ONLY REPLACES PETROLEUM PRODUCTS, BUT CAN IMPROVE PERFORMANCE OF THE MATERIAL WITH ADDITIONAL BENEFITS!

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Hemp cellulose is a powderized product refined from Hemp Stalk. This ultra-fine "hemp dust" is super light and can be incorporated into various bedding foams as a replacement for Polyol (a petroleum-based additive). By replacing equal parts of petroleum with a natural fiber, the foam becomes a more natural product, while adding the many benefits of Hemp Fiber.

BEDDING INDUSTRY
WE HAVE A PROBLEM

With the boom of the Mattress-in-a-Box industry, an incredible number of new bed makers have entered the market, many producing poor quality mattresses. Beds that lasted 10 years or more are being replaced by inferior products with durability issues. As a result, buyers are replacing beds at a faster rate which means we are dumping more non-biodegradable materials back into earth a an unprecedented rate

(to the tune of 50,000 thrown away daily)!

WHY HASN'T THIS ALREADY BEEN DONE?

Decades ago, under pressure from synthetic textile lobbyists, the U.S. government banned hemp to open the door for non-earth-friendly synthetics.  They enacted prohibitive tax laws and levied an excise tax upon the nation’s many hemp dealers. The plant was ultimately banned altogether, temporarily closing the door on one of the most beneficial and historically significant plant-based materials in American history.

In 2018, with the passage of the Farm Bill, Hemp was legalized at the federal level and having recognized it's number of benefits, began to offer incentives for development utilizing it! Read More Here

SUSTAINABILITY

Hempur Material™ was designed to displace non-biodegradable elements of foam for a more sustainable comfort product that performs over time. It's made from carbon-positive raw materials which means the more it's grown, the bigger the positive impact on the environment! For every ton of hemp grown, 1.6 tons of carbon is removed from the atmosphere.
